Making Memories with Movies & Music

Making Memories events present unique opportunities for people living with memory-loss and their care partners to enjoy the arts, engage in discussion and socialize with others while evoking important sensory memories.

• Making Memories at the Movies: Movies have the power to spark memories and create emotional connections. Come enjoy clips of classic films followed by guided conversation and reminiscence.
• Making Memories with Music: Take a stroll down Memory Lane and sing, clap and laugh along with our specially trained musicians. Live musical performances will be accompanied by brief introductions to put the songs into historical context, highlighting their social significance.

Making Memories programs have been run successfully in Suffolk County since 2015 by Marcy Rhodes, a certified special education teacher and licensed master social worker. The Gold Coast Arts Center is proud to bring these programs to the North Shore of Nassau County.
