The mission of Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center is to help improve the quality of life for individuals living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and their caregivers.
For over 30 years, Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center has been providing supportive community-based services to families on Long Island. Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center takes considerable pride in its pioneering role in the development of cutting-edge services that foster the independence, dignity, well-being and safety of individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, thus aiding in the prevention of premature nursing home placement. Until there is a cure for Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center is the best solution to helping families choose the right path for their loved one; one person, one family, one community at a time.
Funds raised at the Making Memories: Cocktails & Casino Night will benefit the Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center’s programs and services. Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center’s programs help at every stage providing safe, structured socialization and mental stimulation activities that are appropriate to the individual’s stage of the disease. All take place in our welcoming and supportive settings or in the comfort of home, offering meaningful activities that enable each member to participate as fully as possible. Programs focus on abilities, not on disabilities – on what people can do, happily and productively, and not on what they can no longer do. Long Island Alzheimer’s and Dementia Center’s specialized programs include, day programs for the early, moderate and late stages of the disease, In-Home Respite, Transportation, Caregiver Support Groups, Dementia Trainings, Memory Cafes, Music and Memory, Brain Fitness Workshopsand a Saturday Day Program.
